Get started with FLASHEX!

This guide will help you get started with FLASHEX!

Software FLASHEX

LASHEX software includes an application for the Windows/iOS operating system and a website https://flashex-tuning.com . Using the application, you can reprogram your car with software created by us. The main advantage of FLASHEX firmware is that the changes we make to the firmware are open to everyone, the website describes the principle of operation of the ECU and what changes and in which maps we make. This way, you can check at your own discretion what and how was done and make sure that all changes were made correctly and adequately (without all the "tricks" like other companies do).

User registration

First of all, you need to register on the website https://flashex-tuning.com. Then, after choosing a license for your car engine, pay for it, and after receiving the activation key, you can use the FLASHEX application. After launching the application, you need to log in using the same credentials that you specified on the website.

- Partial license: in this case you can customize your stock firmware with all available FLASHEX software parameters
- Full license: In this case, you additionally gain access to tuned firmware of Stage1, Stage2 levels.

Downloading the application

You can download the FLASHEX application on the website in the "Downloads" section.

Connection to Car

In order to use the FLASHEX application, you need to connect your computer to the car. To do this, you need to connect the ENET cable to the car and to the computer. After starting the FLASHEX program, it will automatically scan for the presence of the car and the VIN code of your car will appear. Click the "Connect" button and if the connection is successful, you will be transferred to the "Car" tab. There you will be able to view all the information about the software installed in the car. If this car is not supported by the FLASHEX service or there are any other errors, you will see a message in red, which will describe the details of the error. In this case, you can contact the support service and indicate the error. The support service will advise you on this. If you have not yet activated the user, you will be shown a message that in order to continue using the FLASHEX program, you need to enter an "activation code". For this, there will be a special field and a button "activate user". After successful activation, a corresponding message will appear and you will be granted full access to the FLASHEX program. If for some reason the activation failed, you will see a message with the reason. If you do not understand the description of the message, you can contact the support service and they will help you solve the problems with user activation.

Re-flashing car

To start re-flashing the car, in the FLASHEX program you need to go to the "Maps" section. Next, click the "Add map" button. Select the level of changes (Stage1, Stage2, Stage3) or your factory firmware (Stock). After successfully adding the map, you will see it in the list. In order to "fill" the firmware into the car, you need to select the required firmware, and choose one of the following options:
- Full Flash And Unlock – When uploading the firmware for the first time, you must select this item. At this stage, the engine ECU will be completely reprogrammed.
- Flash Software – By selecting this item, only the control program and calibration program for it will be reprogrammed in the ECU.
- Flash Calibrations - By selecting this item, only calibrations will be reprogrammed in the ECU. All other times after the first flash, you can use this mode.
- Re-Code – If after re-flash you have any errors related to coding data - this mode will reprograms the coding data in your ECU.

Firmware configuration

FLASHEX allows you to customize the firmware to your own liking. At the moment the following parameters are available for you to change:
- Fuel type: Here you can choose an ignition map for 98th gasoline to get even more power.
- Coolant temperature target ("cold thermostat"): Here you can set the operating temperature of the coolant at which your engine will operate in all modes.
- Overheating thresholds: here you can change the threshold value of the coolant/oil temperature at which the car's control panel will warn you about engine overheating (the factory values are 125g for coolant and 143g for oil), this is a lot and usually at such temperatures the engine is already irreversibly damaged. This is exactly why this function was added, to warn the driver much earlier.
- Burbles(Pop&Bangs): Here you can adjust the aggressiveness and duration of the bursts (the so-called "popcorn"). You can also adjust the parameters for the factory engine operating modes (EcoPro/Comfort and Sport/Sport+).
- Catalyst turn off: If your car has a downpipe, then to avoid an error about the lack of a catalyst, this option must be enabled.
- Catalyst heating turn off: To disable the catalyst warm-up mode, you must select this option.
- N26/B46 radiator check sensor: The N26/B46 engines are equipped with a special radiator with a catalytic coating, as well as a sensor for checking this radiator. With this option, you can disable this check and use a regular radiator from the N20/B48.
- GTS Startup Roar: GTS versions of the car start more aggressively when starting, so to repeat the same engine start, you can select this option.
- Exhaust flap is always open in Sport mode: With this option, you can make the exhaust flap always open in Sport/Sport+ engine mode.
- Speed limit: In this item, you can choose the speed limiter yourself or turn it off completely.

Diagnostic

Using the FLASHEX application, you can read error codes stored in the engine ECU. This option is available to everyone, even without purchasing an license.

Logs

Using the FLASHEX application, you can also read engine parameters and write them to a file for further analysis. To do this, you need to create a "task" in the logs section, in which you can select the parameters you want to record, and then you can run this task. While the task is running, it reads the vehicle parameters, remembers them, and after turning off the task, it will create a separate entry in the "Logs" section. To view the logs, you need to select the log entry and click the "Download" button. This will upload the log file to the server, and it will appear on the website and in the "Logs" section. There you can view your log.
